The following pieces are from my series "Fragmented Women", which began from my piece in the "A Day in Pompeii" exhibit, at the Cincinnati Museum Center. http://www.cincymuseum.org/pompeii/artshow I have spent my life observing the unappreciated women of the world beginning with my Grandmothers, and my Mother...their delicious meals swallowed and not tasted, the gardens tended in the hot sun, the clean clothes that "miraculously" appeared in closets. I have watched in wonder and marveled at the strength of these women. Like the marble mosaics of the ancient world they somehow endured life and never complained.

Apple Pie: 16 x 20, acrylic on canvas
This drawing plays into the concept of Fragmented Women, in the sense that these pillars of strength had so many unspoken desires. They quietly did their chores, contributed to the lives around them, and stoically subjugated their personal dreams of being a professional singer, pilot, teacher.
